Chennai
“State government is continuously upgrading all the technologies available worldwide in health sector and as part of it, the government is involved in the process of developing a software to track 108 Ambulances which will be out in two months. The software will be like Ola and Uber where people can track the ambulances and the details of the ambulance drivers will also be listed for the ease of public,” said Vijaya Baskar.
During question hour Ottapidaram MLA C Shanmugaiah asked whether government will take steps to upgrade the Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Ottanatham village, in Ottapidaram Taluk, and provide 108 Ambulance for the PHC.
Vijaya Baskar replied that government does not have the policy to allot 108 ambulances for individual PHCs. For instance, in Chennai Corporation for every three kilometres one ambulance has been designated and in case of other corporations one ambulance has been designated for every four kilometres.
In National Highways, one ambulance has been designated for every 10 kilometres and in case of rural areas for every 15 or 20 kilometres one ambulance has been designated. However, in accident prone areas number of allotted ambulances are high, said Vijaya Baskar.
He further said that the Chief Minister has granted permission for buying 200 new ambulances with advanced facilities and out the 200, 60 ambulances are allotted specifically for inter-transfer facility where patients can be shifted from one hospital to other.
