Assembly to discuss grants from March 9 to April 9
The demand for grants session of the state Assembly which is scheduled to commence on March 9 is due to end on April 9.

An official meeting to decide the schedule of the Assembly session, chaired by Speaker P Dhanapal, was held at the Secretariat in which Assembly Secretary K Srinivasan participated. After the meeting, Dhanapal, while addressing reporters said,
“The demand for grants session will commence on March 9 with condolence resolutions and with a break of one day the session will resume with the debate on demand for grants of Environment and Forest Department.
The session will be conducted for 23 days, including the day when condolence resolution is adopted and will end on April 9.”
The demand for grants session is a continuation of the Budget session, that went on from February 14 to 20, where members of the Assembly will debate in detail about the new schemes and announcements in each department.
During the debate, the concerned Minister will present policy note of the department in the house and debate will be based on the policy note.
The Assembly session for debate on demand for grants session to be commenced has followed the same protocol similar to the previous sessions where the first day of the session will be for condolence resolutions.
On the first day, condolence will be marked for former AIADMK MLA P Chandran from Peranamallur Constituency in Tiruvannamalai district and condolence resolutions will be passed for two sitting MLAs, KPP Samy (Tiruvottiyur constituency) and S Kathavarayan (Gudiyattam constituency) who passed away recently.
Detailing on the Assembly session, Dhanapal said, “Except on the first day, the other days will have question hour where Ministers will respond for questions posed by MLAs, followed by ‘Zero Hour’ where a debate will be held on special subject. A
fter the completion of ‘Zero Hour,’ the debate on Demand for Grants will be taken up.”
According to the released schedule, the Assembly session will not be conducted on government holidays, including Telugu New Year which falls on March 25 and Mahaveer Jayanti on April 6.
