DMK leader M K Stalin demanded an all party meeting on the subject and said that the minorities were upset in the state. The debate in the assembly comes a day after the state government officials met the representatives from various Muslim outfits.

Raising the issue during Zero Hour, leader of the Opposition Stalin said that there are clauses in NPR forms seeking details of parents and spouses and there was a need for an all party meeting to discuss the matter in detail.

Responding, Revenue Minister R B Udhaya Kumar, allaying the fears of the Islamic people, said there were no such clauses as claimed by Stalin and recalled the Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami’s assertion that none of the Muslims born and living in Tamil Nadu would be affected by the NRC and NPR, while reiterating that the AIADMK has been acting as a protective shield to the Muslims for the last few decades.

Nagapattinam MLA Thamimun Ansari demanded a resolution in the assembly against NPR and said that the muslim outfits in the state are eagerly waiting for a positive reply from the state government in this regard.
