Already police superintendents in some districts have asked Tasmac managers to shift stock from individual liquor retail shops to godowns in the district to prevent any break-in attempts, officials said.
Tasmac managers were told to identify shops in their jurisdiction that are located in remote locations and move out the stock of liquor and beer to safer premises. While moving the stock, the police are supposed to escort the vehicles carrying liquor bottles to make sure that the consignment reached the destination safety.
In a recent order, Tasmac Managing Director R Kirlosh Kumar has instructed the managers to shift stock to godowns, additional warehouses or marriage halls in the respective taluks. The Police department has been also asked to provide protection at the godowns and safe houses till the shutdown is lifted.
The new places of stock should be under CCTV surveillance and should also be provided with fire extinguishers, the order noted, adding that Tasmac employees or guards should be deployed on rotation basis to safe guard the alcohol bottles.
Tasmac managers have also been asked to physically verify stocks before moving it from the shops and also after placing them in the new premises, the official added in the orderÂ
