“The cooks vacated the mess all of a sudden leaving us without any food from Monday night,” said a PG student. There are around 550 persons including PGs and house surgeons staying in the hostel facility of CMCH. The aggrieved doctors made an anonymous post in the letter head of CRRI Council of CMCH on social media stating, “We bring to your kind notice that basic needs like food and water are being shut down suddenly due to inadequate human resource. Without being provided with basic needs, it is difficult for CRRI’s and PGs to do their routine works. Hence, we humbly request you to look into the issue and make necessary arrangements to provide food and water at the earliest. Consequences without being provided with food and water will be faced by everyone.”

Following the intervention of Health Secretary Beela Rajesh, the CMCH authorities swung into action and made food arrangements. “Only a few persons received food that too late in the night on Monday. On Tuesday, while many had to report to duty at 7.30, the food (upma) came only at 10.30 am that too in short supply. For lunch it was just tomato variety rice with pickle. There is no proper water supply too,” he added.

They also rued that the authorities have been rude to them. “As two of our PGs have tested positive, others too are at a risk as we all were exposed to them. Now all of us should be tested and the entire hostel should be sanitised by providing us alternative accommodation although temporarily, may be in some other college,” said the PG doctor.
