The Dean has been transferred in an order issued by Health Secretary Beela Rajesh on Thursday and was directed to report to the office of the Director of Medical Education in Chennai.

In his place, Dr P Kalidas , Professor of Community Medicine in CMCH will hold additional charge with immediate effect, said the order.

The transfer order comes following a string of allegations raised by the PG medicine students of CMCH. The students and house surgeons staying in the hostel were served with poor food after the mess staff left over fears of contracting COVID-19.

Then, two COVID-19 positive students were removed from an official whatsApp group after they demanded medicine for their infection. The students also had alleged that they were not given proper protective gear while working in the quarantine ward of the hospital.
