    Class 10 board exams to commence from June 1

    The much anticipated Class 10 Tamil Nadu State board exams, which were postponed due to lockdown, will be held from June 1.

    Releasing the fresh time table, School Education Minister KA Sengottaiyan, on Tuesday, said that the exams will begin from June 1 and end on June 12.

    According to the schedule, language exam will be held on June 1 and after a gap of one-day, test for English will be conducted on June 3. On June 5, Mathematics exam has been scheduled and on the next day (June 6) students will appear for an optional language exam. Exams for Science and Social Science will be held on June 8 and 10 respectively. The last exam for vocational subject will be held on June 12.

    Asserting that all precautionary measures will be taken while conducting the exams, Sengottaiyan said that proper social distance will strictly be maintained among the students at the exam centres. “All facilities will be made for students, who appear for exams,” he added. In addition, the minister also announced that Class 12 examination for one subject, which could not be held due to lockdown, will be held on June 2.

    “Similarly, Class 12 students, who were absent for the last exam, which was held on March 24, can write their pending exams on June 4,” he added. The minister also said that answer sheets evaluation for Class 12 will start from May 27.

    As per the original schedule, Class 10 board exams were to be held from March 27 to April 13. Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu Teachers Association president PK Ilamaran said that if the government could not cancel board exams for Class 10, at least the exams should be postponed till the threat of coronavirus gets diluted and normalcy restores in all the districts. “The government should also conduct revision classes before conducting exams so that many students, who could not participate in online classes, will be confident to appear for exams”, he added.
