DMK, AIADMK helping sand mafia: AMMK leader TTV Dhinakaran

In a statement the RK Nagar MLA alleged that the AIADMK and DMK members were allowing sand mafia to operate along riverbanks looting natural resources. Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami has announced that Mettur dam will be opened on June 12 to help kuruvai crop in Delta.

In the past two years the water released in Mettur has not reached the tail end areas and this year the State has not taken up adequate desilting works. To execute the Rs 500 crore desilting works the State has appointed nodal officers, but there are reports stating that desilting works are not taken up.
