The move by the Higher Education Department to launch an online portal came after several training programmes that were lined up for the students this summer could not be completed due to the lockdown.

“Therefore, it has been decided to impart training to the students online. Students who wish to join a particular training programme may register online by uploading relevant documents and certificates,” a senior official from the Higher Education Department told DT Next.

Interested students could also register on the portal to get alerts on training programmes, he said, adding that in addition to the online training programme, the portal would also contain course module, webinar, internship programme, EDII non-training events, college and universities links.

According to the official, registered members could create blogs and newsletters for the EDII cell to feature creative write-ups. In addition, companies run by the students inside the college campus with proper support documents could also be uploaded on the website for the experts in the EDII to guide them.

The new portal would also contain other specifications such as content management system, administration dashboard to monitor the users, data analytics to derive insights from the stakeholder information and automated e-mail to alert the users. “The portal would also be integrated with the proposed Tamil Nadu Startup and Innovation Mission programme,” the official said.

He added that the portal would also have comprehensive guidance for young entrepreneurs on how to start a business, choose the right business, select a location, procurement of licences and permits, guide business laws and policies, financing for business, registration for central, State and local taxes and hire employees.
