Thoothukudi port gets ready to receive 700 Lankan repatriates
With all necessary arrangements, Thoothukudi is gearing up to receive around 700 repatriates, who are scheduled to arrive on June 2 from Sri Lanka.

The Indian Navy through Operation ‘Samudra Setu’, which means ‘Sea Bridge’ as part of national effort to repatriate Indian citizens from overseas by INS ‘Jalashwa’, is all set to reach Port of Colombo on June 1 to bring them back on board, sources said.
Thoothukudi Collector Sandeep Nanduri, on Sunday, said around 700 repatriates mostly Tamils, who were in Sri Lanka for various purposes on tourist and business visas, were expected to arrive at V.O. Chidambaranar Port in Thoothukudi on June 2. Since the repatriates expressed their interest in returning to their hometowns, the High Commission of India, Colombo took steps to facilitate their needs and the Centre made arrangements with the aid of Indian Navy.
