Gang murders BJP worker in Krishnagiri
A BJP youth wing functionary was hacked to death by a heavily armed gang at Kundhumaranapalli near Hosur in Krishnagiri district on Tuesday night.

The deceased Ranganathan, 38 bled to death right in front of his family members while celebrating the birthday of his son.
Police said the gang armed with logs and weapons barged into his house and attacked him brutally at night. The assailants had then fled away in two-wheelers and he died on the spot. Ranganathan was working as a bus driver in a private school and was the party’s youth wing leader of the Kelamangalam area.
Ranganathan, who was earlier with AIADMK, had quit the party to join BJP two months ago. On receiving information, the Kelamangalam police retrieved the body and sent it for a post mortem at government hospital in Hosur. Preliminary inquiries by police revealed that personal enmity to be the reason behind the murder.
The murder triggered a road block protest by family and relatives of the deceased. Condemning the murder, the shop keepers in Kelamangalam downed their shutters on Wednesday. Also, the BJP workers accompanied by villagers staged a road block protest demanding the arrest of the assailants. The deceased is survived by his wife Geetha, 25 and two sons aged three and one. A large number of police personnel have been deployed in the neighbourhood to prevent any untoward incident. Special teams of police are on the lookout for the culprits.
