Collector orders probe into frequent fire incidents in Tiruchy Gandhi Market
While traders of Gandhi Market staged a protest on Saturday to reopen the market as there were series of fire accidents taking place in the premises, the District Collector ordered for a probe by police.

Ever since, the Gandhi market in Tiruchy was closed owing to COVID-19 restrictions, there were a series of theft and fire incidents and the traders continued to protest for a probe. Similarly, on Saturday, the public noticed a thick blanket of smoke emanating from a shop owned by Palanisamy, a banana leaf wholesale merchant. The traders rushed to spot and doused the fire. On information, around 100 traders gathered in front of Gate No 6 of Gandhi Market and staged a protest. Meanwhile, the District Collector S Sivarasu said that an probe orde has been passed on to the police and the City Corporation would ensure cleanliness in and around the market.
