District committees to verify aided schools’ admission list
Following reports that many government-aided schools presented fake admission list to avail welfare scheme benefits and funds, the School Education Department has formed teams at each district to get the correct information from all institutions on this year’s admissions.

There are around 8,300 aided schools in the State that have about 22 lakh students from primary to higher secondary level and more than 75,000 teachers. Like government schools, these institutions also receive all welfare scheme benefits and also receive government funds for the development of teachers and schools. However, these can be availed only if the school follows all the norms, including good student admission rates.
This year, there were reports that many aided school managements provided inflated admission numbers to the government, which prompted the authorities to seek a provisional report on admissions. “It was found that many aided institutions, which had poor track record last academic year, have claimed to have provided new admissions to more students than the intake capacity. This raised doubts,” said a senior official from the School Education Department.
“Therefore, a team was constituted in each educational district to monitor the admission activities of aided schools and get the information on a regular basis. Though the admission process is not over, all managements have been directed to immediately upload students’ enrollment information in the Educational Management Information System (EMIS), the common online platform connecting schools, teachers and government,” the official added.
The EMIS data rests on three key factors – students’ data, staff data, and schools’ information, he said. “All the information related to these three factors should be provided by the headmasters through EMIS portal using the exclusive login provided to each school,” he added.
If any school is found to have indulged in malpractice, action would be taken after conducting a detailed inquiry, he added.
