Special track for cycle users officially opened in Tiruchy city
Based on the recent survey on the use of bicycles for transportation and 80 per cent wanting separate track, the Tiruchy district administration, along with the City police and City Corporation initiated steps to establish a special lane for two wheelers including cycle users which was opened for public here on Saturday.

According to sources, the civic body conducted a survey with around 5000 residents about the need for the separate lane for bicycles and more than 80 per cent respondents including 30 per cent women had urged the need for the separate track for the bicycle users. Based on the survey, the separate track was established from Head Post Office to Cantonment and was let open for the public on Saturday. Ministers Vellamandi N Natarajan and S Valarmathy along with the district collector S Sivarasu, Commissioner of Police J Loganathan and Corporation Commissioner S Sivasubramaninan, opened for the public use. The Corporation Commissioner said that a Handlebar Survey would be made in coming days and the users of the special track can share their experiences at https://bit.ly/3kJusrF website or register their comments by calling at 9445967430. This would help the civic body to upgrade the facility based on the public requirement. The ministers, Collector, Commissioner of Police, Corporation Commissioner and others participated in the cycle rally after the inauguration of the track.
