    Residents from Kumbakonam lauded the Tangedco employee who climbed atop the electric poles and was walking in the electric lines to remove the trees that had fallen and the video had gone viral in the region on Saturday.

    The people from the Panthanallur near Kumbakonam were spending the past two days without power supply after the trees had fallen on the electric lines due to the impact of Cyclone Nivar landing and Tangedco workers from the locality were struggling to remove the vegetation fell on the power line.

    On seeing this, S Ulaganathan (44), a resident from Sooriyanarkoil village working as a field assistant at Kathiramangalam Tangedco office came to help the workers.

    He climbed atop the electric pole and was walking on the power line and removed the fallen trees one by one by walking around 80 feet distance at a stretch. After ensuring the removal of all the fallen trees, Ulaganathan climbed down and continued his support to the workers. Meanwhile, the residents who had witnessed the work of Ulaganathan had video recorded and spread along with the social media and it had gone viral from Friday night.

    Ulaganathan who was working in the Tangedco for the past 22 years, said that he was much fascinated by the electrical and electronic works and was happy to help the people who have been living without power supply for the past two days.

    “I am much interested in climbing atop the electric poles and working. At times, the residents who have been watching me awestruck have been clapping on seeing me working without fear and this gives me a sense of satisfaction to some extend,” Ulaganathan said. After the removal of the fallen trees, the power supply resumed and the people lauded Ulaganathan for his courageous task.
