    The cyclonic storm Burevi formed over the Bay of Bengal is likely to cross the Gulf of Mannar on December 3, today.

    The IMD has tweeted "Cyclone Warning for South Tamilnadu and South Kerala coasts. Cyclone Burevi to emerge into Gulf of Mannar during next 3 hours. To reach near Pamban around noon and to cross south Tamilnadu coast during 3rd night to 4th early morning."

    Meanwhile a warning cage no: 7 was mounted at the Pamban Bridge anticipating heavy wind and heavy to very heavy rainfall in the surroundings of Rameswaram. ‘Burevi’ will cross south Tamil Nadu between Kanyakumari and Pamban on early morning of December 04.

    Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu Minister RB Udayakumar on Tuesday visited coastal Rameswaram as Cyclone Burevi is expected to emerge into the Gulf of Mannar today.

    "All fishermen have returned from sea and all people residing in low-lying areas have been asked to move to relief camps," Udayakumar told reporters.

    Cyclonic Storm Burevi over Sri Lanka moved west-northwestwards with a speed of 12 kmph during past six hours and lay centred about 60 km northwest of Trincomalee, 180 km east-southeast of Pamban (India), the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said in the wee hours of Thursday.

    It is likely to emerge into the Gulf of Mannar today morning, IMD stated.
