As part of the precautions ahead of Cyclone Burevi, vehicles heading to the popular hill station were blocked on Palani road, Batlagundu road and on Adukkam route.

The tourist spots were closed since 7 pm on Thursday. But after the rains subsided, tourist spots except for those under Forest Department were reopened and the traffic resumed around 2 pm on Friday. But the mudslide resulted in a blockade.

When contacted on Saturday, Kodaikanal Sub-Collector M Sivaguru Prabakaran said debris from these locations were cleared with the help of earthmovers, and vehicular traffic resumed on the stretches. Rains that lashed parts of Kodaikanal stopped around 11 am, and pleasant weather has been prevailing since then, said officials who are expecting an increase in tourist footfall on Sunday.
