Expressing shock at the demise of former CLP, state Congress president KS Alagiri said that Yasodha who was drawn by the leadership of Kamarajar had strived for the development of the party till her last breath. She had occupied various key party posts, including state vice president and Mahila Congress head.
In his condolence message, Alagiri described the demise of the firebrand speaker who echoed as the voice of the poor and downtrodden in the state Assembly as an irreparable loss to the party.
DMK president MK Stalin, who paid floral tributes to the mortal remains of Yasodha, said that she had flourished as a prominent voice for national, state and constituency issues in the House. “Whether she was in the Opposition or ruling alliance, people of her constituency were high on the priority of Yasodha akka (elder sister). She never thought beyond that. She considered it her lifetime duty to strive for the people of her constituency,” Stalin said, adding that she got things for her constituency done as a family member more than a legislator during the DMK tenure. As a person who strived for the uplift of downtrodden people, her demise was a loss not just to the Congress party, but also to the Dravidian movement, said Stalin.
