Amid tight security, TN education department all set to conduct boards
With barely a month left, preparations are in full swing to conduct the Tamil Nadu State board exams for students from classes 10 to 12.
CHENNAI: A senior official from the School Education Department said all details of students appearing for board exams have already been secured. “Accordingly, hall tickets will be uploaded shortly,” he added.
Authorities are in the process of identifying exam centres. Teachers from government schools have been utilised for exam-related works.
“A circular has been sent to all schools including private institutions to complete truncated portions before exams commence. Accordingly a detail booklet, with the list of reduced syllabus, has been circulated to all schools,” he stated.
Pointing out that question papers for board exams have been prepared only based on the truncated syllabus, he said they’ll be distributed to the centres a day before the exam.
Since the Class 12 revision test question paper was leaked recently, the department will install surveillance cameras in all locker rooms.
“CCTV will be installed inside and outside locker rooms where question papers are kept,” he explained. “Education officers at all district headquarters would continue to monitor and review the video on regular basis.”
Over 1,400 armed guards will be deployed in locker rooms, which will not have windows. The official said that security personnel will be available round the clock without any diversions. “The flying squads would make a surprise visit to ensure that the question papers are kept safely,” he averred. “Question papers will be transported safely in vehicles, which will have GPS devices so that movement could be monitored.”
