    The newly appointed members will select a chairperson/president to lead the trustee members. The post of these trustees will be valid for a period of two years and the post of the president should be filed within 30 days of this government order, the Government Order said.

    CHENNAI: The state government has announced the appointment of trustees for the Tiruchendur Subramaniya Swami Temple in Thoothukudi.

    A government order issued by Dr B Chandra Mohan, state secretary to Hindu Religious and Endowments Board and Tourism said that the state had constituted a seven-member committee to recommend a panel of trustees for the Tiruchendur Subramaniya Swami Temple and the committee as per the rules of HR&CE section 46 (3) has recommended the new trustees.

    Based on the search committee’s recommendation five persons including V Senthil Murugan of Thoothukudi, Anitha Kumaran, wife of former MP KPK Kumaran, N Ramadoss of Thoothukudi, R Arul Murugan of Santhome, Chennai and P Ganesan of Polpettai, Thoothukudi, as members to fill the post of trustees.

    The newly appointed members will select a chairperson/president to lead the trustee members. The post of these trustees will be valid for a period of two years and the post of the president should be filed within 30 days of this government order, the Government Order said.

    The Tiruchendur temple, one of the six abodes of Lord Muruga, draws lakhs of pilgrims from south India and other south Asian countries.

    The tourist inflow to Tiruchendur is maximum during the summer holidays, Thaipoosam and Sashti holidays.
