Anna University top choice by engineering aspirants in TN

CHENNAI: As the first round of counselling for students seeking engineering seats in Tamil Nadu came to an end on Monday, Anna University and a few affiliated reputed colleges continue to be the preferred choice among candidates.
They also preferred courses such as computer science, IT, artificial intelligence, and machine language.
A senior official from the Higher Education Department, seeking anonymity, said that over 90% of students have participated in the first round of counselling. “Most students who did not participate in the counselling, have opted out since they cleared the NEET exam to get MBBS seat,” he added.
He also pointed out that most students in the first batch preferred to join Anna University and its department colleges. “Many have also opted for reputed colleges based on their performance. The Directorate of Technical Education (DOTE) has prepared a list of colleges and their performance, which was useful to students.”
Tentative allotments for students in the first batch will be released on September 13 and they must confirm it by the next day. “The provisional list will be released on September 25,” he said.
On the preferred courses, the official said, “Computer science with AI-allied subject was the most preferred course for students, and IT was a close second.”
