CHENGALPATTU: A direct paddy procurement station-control room has been set up for farmers in Chengalpet district.

According to district collector Rahul Nath, the State government has advanced the date of functioning of direct paddy procurement centres from October 1 to September 1.

Currently, 14 direct paddy procurement stations are open at several locations including Madhurandhagam, Paalur, Tirukazhukunram etc in Chengalpattu.

Nath has called for farmers to visit the centres along with documents such as permission slips from VAO, yield certificate, Aadhaar card and bank account copy along with a sample of paddy they’d like to sell at the centres on their allotted day.

The government has also set up a control room at the district collectorate to resolve farmers’ grievances about the procurement stations.

The issues discussed during the farmers grievance redressal day last month would also be resolved through the control room.

“Those who do not want to submit their grievances directly can call any of the following numbers: TN Civil Supplies Corporation head office – 18005993540, Control Room – (044) 26421663, 26421665, Chengalpattu District Collector Office Control Room – (044) 27427412, 27427414 and Control Room’s WhatsApp number – 9444272345 between 10 am to 5 pm,” said collector Nath.

Similarly, the Tiruvallur district collector Alby John Varghese on Monday has requested farmers in the district to attend the Farmers’ Welfare Day meeting. It’d be held at the District Collectorate on September 30 from 10 am onwards.

The meet would be held in all revenue divisions of Tiruvallur on September 16. Demands and grievances raised by farmers will be redressed immediately, he added.
