    CHENNAI: AIADMK's ousted leader and former chief minister O Panneerselvam on Wednesday urged the DMK government on Wednesday to set right all the government schools that are unsafe for ensuring the safety of the students.

    Paneerselvam's statement came against the backdrop of a roof collapse accident at a school in a Kallakurichi school in which three students were injured.

    Stating that he had already issued a statement last year when a school building collapsed in Tirunelveli, the former chief minister urged the State government to carry out repair works in the schools buildings.

    Pointing out another incident OPS said, a roof of a classroom at Vaigaikullam village in Ramanathapuram district collpased in which two students were injured", he said, adding that in continuation to this mishap, there was another roof collapse was reported in Kallakurichi.

    Panneerselvam said even after the education minister's assurance, there are incidents of school building collapses.

    Wishing for the speedy recovery of the students, who were admitted to a hospital, in the Kallakurichi roof collapse accident, OPS urged the intervention of Chief Minister MK Stalin so that such incidents endangering life of schools students do not occur in the future.
