    CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu Corporation for Development of Women (TNCDW) on Friday signed an MoU with the British Council for imparting soft skills for rural youth under Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY). The MoU was signed in the presence of Minister for Rural Development KR Periyakaruppan and Rural Development Secretary P Amudha.

    According to the MoU, rural youth in the age group of 18 to 35 will be imparted with soft skills which will help develop their basic English language skills, their English communication skills, usage of emails, preparing resumes on their own, to face interviews for jobs, leadership skills, group discussion capacities and will make their multifaceted which will improve their employability skills.

    The State government is planning to impart soft skills to 40,000 rural youths this year. After the training they will not just be able to get employment in India, but also in foreign countries.

    The Rural Development department under DDU-GKY is already providing short-term training for rural youths in 20 different departments and 80 different sectors through 130 different companies to improve their employability skills and guide them towards employment. Along with the existing training, the soft skills training will also be provided to them.
