EPS opposes proposal to construct check dams across Pallar River
Pointing out that Paalar river water, which was flowing from Andhra Pradesh then coming to Vaniampadi to the State, to benefit Tamil Nadu, Palaniswami said "Now, Andhra Pradesh has planned to curtail the water as per the requirement of the State by this check dams".
CHENNAI: AIADMK interim general secretary and former chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on Sunday urged the DMK government to take steps for stopping the Andhra Pradesh government's proposal to stall the construction of check dams across the Paalar River.
Claiming that the neighboring State's decision to construct check dams across the Paalar river will affect people’s livelihood in five districts, the AIADMK leader said: "It is regret to note that Andhra Pradesh planning to construct a reservoir across Paallar River, which is against the Supreme Court's order".
Stating that the Andhra Pradesh government has planned to allocate Rs 370 crore for this reservoirs project, Palaniswami said that the announcement shocked several thousand farmers in the State.

The AIADMK leader said that that the DMK government should wake up and do the necessary steps to solve the issue.
