‘Drop plan to prepare centralised question papers for primary classes’

CHENNAI: CPM politburo member G Ramakrishnan has urged the Tamil Nadu government to scrap its plan to prepare the question paper and conduct the exam at the State-level for Classes one to three and four to five students.

“In the circular of the State Director of School Education dated September 12, 2022, it has been said to conduct the examination for students of Classes 1-3 and students of Classes 4-5 on the basis of summative assessment. They said that they will prepare and send a questionnaire at the state level, ” he tweeted.

Ramakrishnan said that the State government has formed a committee to formulate an education policy suitable for the State after opposing the new education policy of the Union government.

“Meanwhile, there is no need to change the existing examination procedures for primary school students. At the State-level, people have a natural concern when a centralised questionnaire is sent. Therefore, I urge the government to drop the announcement of preparing the question paper and conducting the exam,” he wrote.
