Madrasa in Theni district sealed by officials amid police presence
The team led by Tahsildar of Theni, Saravanababu sealed the premises and pasted a copy of the order for its closure as directed by the District Administration, sources said.
MADURAI: Amidst police presence, a Madrasa ‘Arivagam’, which is located at Muthuthevanpatti in Theni district, was locked and sealed by a team of officials on Saturday. The team led by Tahsildar of Theni, Saravanababu sealed the premises and pasted a copy of the order for its closure as directed by the District Administration, sources said.
The NIA sleuths conducted search operations in the offices of PFI and houses of some members affiliated to the organisation across India on September 22 and seized laptops, cell phones and some documents in some places. It’s on the same day, the NIA team searched the premises of the ‘Arivagam’ at Muthuthevanpatti.
After the nationwide raid, the Centre imposed a ban on PFI and its affiliates for five years. About 30 inmates from the ‘Arivagam’ were asked to move away after it was sealed. Meanwhile, Muthuthevanpatti Jamaath president Masthaan approached the Collectorate and submitted a petition citing that the ‘Arivagam’ was functional under the aegis of Tamil Nadu Development Foundation Trust and is no way connected to the PFI.
