    COIMBATORE: Around 72 students of a Government Middle School in Kamaraj Colony in Hosur in Krishnagiri district were hospitalised after they developed breathing difficulties and fainted due to suspected gas leak from a septic tank on Friday.

    After lunch at around 2 30 pm, the students were in the classroom, when they were hit by a strong wave of gas. Soon, the students developed nausea and began to faint triggering panic moments.

    They were immediately rushed to Hosur Government Hospital in ambulances, while other students from the school were shifted to the playground of a nearby school. The panicked parents thronged the school and to the hospital to see their children.

    Krishnagiri Collector V Jaya Chandra Bhanu Reddy, who visited the hospital said that the condition of the students were stable. “After treatment, 22 children were sent home with their parents. One child has been shifted to Krishnagiri Government Hospital as a precaution. Parents need not panic as the students are in good health and under continuous observation by doctors,” he said.
