CHENNAI: State Food Minister R Sakkarapani on Sunday refuted the allegations of Union Food Minister Piyush Goyal on the quality of rice being supplied in the PDS shops by saying that the comment of Goyal is political as he did not inspect the rice that is supplied in PDS shops in Tamil Nadu.
"BJP men have the agenda of spreading fake information against the ruling DMK government and without inspecting the PDS shops they have made the Union Minister to speak against the rice that is supplied in PDS shops. The Union Minister has made the comments for the sake of politics. Recently, BJP state president K Annamalai said that he will make 30 Ministers carry out inspections in Tamil Nadu every month. As the Parliament election is due next BJP is trying to politicise every issue in the state." said Sakkarapani, while addressing the media, in Chennai.
Earlier in the morning, Piyush Goyal in a party meeting alleged that the union government is supplying quality rice to Tamil Nadu but the rice that is distributed in the PDS shops is not supplied with the same quality.
