Aruna panel report lesson for police, says Anbumani
Claiming that the Arumughasamy Commission’s report on the death of former chief minister J Jayalalithaa lacked clarity, the PMK leader said that it would help only in doing politics.
COIMBATORE: PMK president Anbumani Ramadoss on Thursday said the Aruna Jagadeesan Commission, holding 17 cops responsible for Thoothukudi firing is a lesson for Tamil Nadu police forces.
“It is an extreme offence to shoot down people. It is a lesson for the police department as the Commission’s report suggests action against the cops involved in the firing,” he said, at Coimbatore International Airport on his way to Tirupur. Claiming that the Arumughasamy Commission’s report on the death of former chief minister J Jayalalithaa lacked clarity, the PMK leader said that it would help only in doing politics.
Stating that lakhs of workers employed in the knitwear sector in Coimbatore, Tirupur and Erode were on the brink of losing jobs due to closure of units following yarn price hike, Anbumani said that banks should provide security free loans to save the ailing sector.
Claiming that the Avinashi-Athikadavu Scheme remains incomplete, despite 95 per cent of works getting over, Anbumani said several lakes and ponds would have been filled if this scheme had been implemented.
He also said that Chief Minister MK Stalin should discuss with Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan to sort out issues in implementation of Pandiyar Punnampuzha and Anamalayar-Nallar projects.
