Erode East by-polls: EVKS Elangovan wins with huge margin

At the end of the final round, Congress Candidate EVKS Elangovan wins with huge margin of 66,575 votes.

Congress has increased its votes by 2,478 to poll 6,079 votes in Karungalpalayam where it polled 3,601 votes in 2021 assembly elections.

Congress has gained 2,611 votes more to register 6,432 votes in Thirunagar colony where it previously polled 3,821 votes in 2021 assembly polls. 

Congress secures 83,528 votes, AIADMK gets 32,360, NTK and DMDK gets 5,666 and 836 votes respectively. 

Congress betters its previous number of votes by 2,248 in Kumanankottai, where it has polled 5,352 votes as against 3,104 votes in 2021 assembly elections.

After delay, counting of votes for the 11th round has commenced. This comes after the official declaration of result for eight rounds.

Breaching the 28,000 vote mark, AIADMK has retained its deposit.

Round 11 voting delayed as the round 7 results have not been declared officially.

7 candidates get single vote in Erode East by-polls

Chief Minister MK Stalin addresses media persons from party headquarters. "People have given big support for Dravidian model and taught EPS yet another big lesson. This by-poll will act as an anchor for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. I thank all of them who voted for us. Will continue to strive for the victory," he says.

Counting of votes has been stopped for lunch break, to be  continued again at 1.45 pm.

Round 7 of counting ends: Congress secured 53,548, AIADMK gets 19,936, NTK 3,006 and DMDK 492

EVKS Elangovan secured 250 postal votes out of 398 postal votes cast. Thennarasu got 104, NTK secured 10 votes.

Democracy has no value, money has won today, says AIADMK's Thennarasu. The candidate also left the counting centre in Erode as Elangovan continued to lead.

After 6th round, Elangovan still leads by 29,402 votes.

Congress secures 46,179, AIADMK gets 16,777  NTK & DMDK remain at 2,443 & 386 votes.

The credit for the victory goes to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin. The DMK government has fulfilled its election promises and this victory is a recognition of that. The results show people's love for secular coalition: EVKS Elangovan.
