Tech Next: Lava Unveils Agni 3, now comes with dual AMOLED display
Lava calls it the Agni InstaScreen that aims to offer a similar user experience like the smaller ‘cover display’ that we’ve seen on flip phones from the likes of Samsung and Motorola.
CHENNAI: Foldable phones with dual displays have gradually gathered momentum. Lava, a proudly Indian smartphone manufacturer has just unveiled the Lava Agni 3 and calls it the world’s first smartphone with a secondary AMOLED rear screen. Lava builds a case for this secondary display with a bunch of use-case scenarios and offers this smartphone at a compelling price tag for a device with dual screens.
The big talking point of this smartphone is the innovative 1.74-inch AMOLED screen. Lava calls it the Agni InstaScreen that aims to offer a similar user experience like the smaller ‘cover display’ that we’ve seen on flip phones from the likes of Samsung and Motorola. You can use this smaller display to snap images, check notifications and manage calls. It’s an interesting option not just to optimise battery life but also minimise interactions with the larger display. Your interactions are restricted to the notifications that matter; handy when you’re having a frenetic day at work.
There’s more to the Agni 3 than the secondary display. You get a gorgeous, 1.5K curved AMOLED display. This 6.78-inch screen (1200 x 2652 pixels) features a 120Hz refresh rate and peaks at 1200 nits, offering excellent visibility even under direct sunlight. The Agni 3 is a good looking phone that comes in two cool shades including our favourite - Heather Glass, a lovely shade of smoked purple. At its heart is a MediaTek Dimensity 7300X processor with a choice of 8GB/128GB and 8GB/256GB storage options. Other hardware highlights include a 5000 mAh battery with a bundled 66W super-fast charger.
The Agni 3 ticks some key boxes with a strong value proposition. You get a triple rear cam powered by a 50MP Sony sensor with OIS. The camera set-up also includes an 8MP telephoto lens with 3X optical zoom. But most of all it’s the dual displays that make the Lava Agni 3 an interesting option at its asking price.
