Mahasivaratri is not a Hindu festival, it is a day to raise one’s energy to experience Divine presence within and achieve personal and financial success in the external world.
One must realise that Siva is not a God with a physical form. Siva is the power that has created everything in the universe; nothing exists without the
presence of this power, hence it is known as ‘Sarvam Sivamayam’. Once dead, the body remains, but life exists no more in the body. That invisible life within a person is Siva, what the Siddhars say ‘Jeevan Sivananan’.
Sivaratri is known as Sivaratri not Siva-Jayanthi or Siva-Navami for a profound reason. Jayanthi or Navami needs a physical form to appear in this physical world, implying an origin or beginning. However, Siva has no beginning, no origin and no ending. This energy is in everything and is everything.
How does one experience this Divine power within?
Mahasivaratri is not about poojas, rituals or staying awake, but about staying awake with an ‘awareness’ of God. And this God is not outside of you, it is within you. This is ‘Saiva Siddhantham’, the ultimate wisdom about God and the most profound philosophy of Saivism.
However, one needs to create a certain condition within the body, to receive this energy within. The fundamental requirement to receive the energy from God is ‘inner silence’. One may achieve it through daily meditation, and on Sivaratri, it can be achieved just through awareness about God in a serene environment.
You are then assured of a magical experience and all the power to bring the positive change you want in life.
