With pure conscience, even rabbit can act like lion
As we evolve, the food that we take, the clothes that we wear, and all the habits that we are born with have slowly to be adjusted to our level of evolution. You can’t accelerate your spiritual progress if you don’t consciously focus on it. So, we must evolve not just from within but in our manners and in our lifestyle. A complete turnaround is necessary. Everything must change.

Serenity once created should not be spoiled. Purity once created should not be spoiled. How will you know if your inner purity has been compromised? What are the signs? I once read in a beautiful book, “With a pure conscience, even a rabbit acts like a lion and with a compromised conscience (impurity-filled conscience), even a lion will behave like a rabbit.” So, this is just a hint of how we can perceive the compromised purity of the heart.
Purity and Impurity
We are not talking now about the purity of the body or soul. However pure the body may be, washed, cleaned up – a gleaming, snow-white body – will it come with you to the ‘brighter world?’ The body cannot evolve. It has its limitations. What about the soul’s purity? Purity is its nature. It cannot be impure. This evolutionary path of Heartfulness is not going to change our body, nor will it change the soul. Fine, then what are we talking about? Which purity do we want to maintain here? It is the purity of the subtle bodies, which envelop the soul.
Mainly, it is that of consciousness and of the heart. Thereby, the soul will be lightened. When you lie to your father or to your mother, something happens to the heart, no? There’s no point of being saintly. You must have lied so many times – what happens to your heart at that time? When you study the heart, you will find that if you do something wrong, your heart starts pumping fast. Another sign of compromised purity is that the heart becomes heavy. And then what takes over? Guilt and regret. You start disliking yourself.
“How could I do such a thing to my parents?” Now what happens? I should have had lightness in the heart, joy in the heart, confidence in the heart, and the courage to face my parents because I have not done anything stupid. I should not have compromised anything at any level, knowingly or unknowingly.
Many people give the excuse, “Oh, sorry. I did it unknowingly. I didn’t know that this person was like that. Papa, I am sorry I did this.” Don’t fool your father and don’t fool yourself. You are compromising your purity of heart. Although the complexities and impurities of the body will be buried or burned here, their vibrations will go on into other dimensions. We must be extremely careful.
